I’ve been itching for a decorating project lately so I used this past rainy weekend to decorate the mantle in our living room. I figured that while I was taking pictures of the new mantle decor, I’d give you a little tour of our living room (we hang out here just as much as we do in the kitchen).
Let’s start with the mantle. If you’ve been here for awhile, you probably already know that I like to decorate our mantle for Halloween, Christmas, Valentine’s Day & Spring. I totally spaced and skipped Valentine’s Day this year. Oh well.
I decided to do something pretty/simple for Spring, using what I already had around the house.
I’m loving how open it is. Normally we aren’t able to see our reflection this well because tend to spread things out over the entire mantle. This year I just grouped things on both sides. I like how the branches frame it.
As you know, I love fonts so I decided to put a little something special on my mantle.
It’s APRIL! Can you believe it?
I think it adds a nice personal touch. I added that little bar of polka dots to balance things out.
I also added little bits of tissue paper on the leftover silver branches from my Christmas decor to make it more spring-like.
Here’s a wider shot of the right hand side. That little striped ball is a Jonathan Adler salt shaker 🙂
Of course…there’s always a vintage camera or two hanging out in my living room. This one was my grandfather’s.
Continuing on the left hand side, I used the cherry blossoms I made last year. I couldn’t bear to get rid of them.
When you’re sitting on the couch, or looking in the mirror you can see this wall of of art. I posted about it when we first moved in.
That’s a silhouette I did of Cooper when he was a toddler. Never would I have thought I’d be into yellow, but I really do love it here.
Here’s the view from the couch.
We have two identical couches. It’s cool cuz we can swap them when we want. My mother-in-law bought me those awesome LOVE & LUST pillows by Jonathan Adler. I absolutely adore them! I found the mustard/gold pillows at Cost Plus World Market a long time ago and the b&w patterned ones are from IKEA. I found those lamps in the back at KMART over 6 years ago. Such a score at $20 each.
When you’re sitting on the couch there’s a small dividing wall that cuts up the living room & the sitting room.
You can see a little peak into my bedroom, dining room & kitchen through here.
So that’s my living room.
I’ll show you the sitting room next!
Stay tuned.
