Ahh, I always love all the visuals of your days.

This week there were two “father” moments. First, the green car, that was my father’s car, Not THAT car, but that 190 SL convertible Mercedes. His was white with tan interior and a navy convertible top. He bought it new in Germany in 1960 when he was still stationed in Europe and had it shipped to the US when he returned to the states a few months later. My mother always resented the car. They were living in Italy that year and she flew home to SoCal in August to have me (!), while he and my sister stayed behind “because he had so much work to do,” and when I was three months old he bought that car. While she was back in the states struggling with a newborn on her own. She was like “SO MUCH WORK?!? I CAN TELL YOU ABOUT SO MUCH WORK!” And she never let up on that for the rest of his life. He had that same car til he died in 1982.

The other was those ruffly marigolds. They were my father’s favorite flower and he always had them planted around the tomatoes (helps keep the bugs away) and they have such a distinctive scent…that I mentally smelled as soon as I saw that picture!

So thank you for prompting memories of my father today!
