Currently November 2023!
Here’s me making my pages for the November:
(it’s a video!)
Here are my pages!
This month was a combo of black gesso, pen & collage.
Because Thanksgiving is in November, I wrote down a bunch of things I am grateful for.
Currently!
Let’s get into the month:
Inspired By:
Making Thanksgiving with my in-laws! It’s been a long time since I was able to make Thanksgiving in the kitchen with someone else. My mom was my wingman. My sister-in-law, Lauren was at quite a few Thanksgivings with my Mom so it felt very special to be with her again for Thanksgiving.
Inspired by road trip time. My brain recalibrated. Two days of daydreaming.
Early morning hikes with Lisa and Otis helped me appreciate sunrises again.
I went through my ornaments and thought about how I would never know what my ornaments would look like lined up if my Mom was still alive. #keepgriefweird
I did silent disco in the parking lot of the DMV where I got my driver’s license at 17.
What a thing to type!
I made things for a party I didn’t attend.
I taught a Thanksgiving Meal Prep workshop with Helen Jane!
It was very rewarding to get emails from students with pictures of their Thanksgiving planning/meals this year.
Working on a podcast about grief with MC! Our conversations are helping me connect back to my Mom and my grief journey and I am so grateful for that. Yay friendship!
Working on my time management download pack and seeing how far I’ve come!
Found an old pair of jeans in my closet this month (I thought I got rid of them all!) and got a perspective shock!
You can read more about how I learned how to nourish myself this year.
I went through old Polaroids (from 24 years ago!). It’s like a precursor to Instagram.
It’s been fascinating to see how much my art has changed over the years. I am grateful I spent the time keeping track of things.
I started shipping out Currently Workbooks for 2024 this month!
Watching:
Twin Flames documentaries (netflix + amazon)
National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation
The Best Christmas Ever
Woodworking videos
Casey’s watching a programming course from Harvard
Reading:
Old Currently workbooks
(I’ve been doing more writing than reading!)
Thinking About:
The holidays! My Mom! How to make holiday magic.
I’ve been thinking about how much resentment can happen when you don’t ask for help. You can also become extremely resentful when you ask for help and it’s still not given. These are big lessons I learned from my Mom’s experience.
Listening To:
My Spotify Wrapped Data for you!
It’s been a weird year. I started binging on Sam Smith and ended with Dave Matthews.
There’s a reason why my wrapped told me that my listening style is TIME TRAVELER.
I’ll take it! It’s true.
Other songs I have on repeat:
Dream Life:
Been drinking mugwort tea. My dreams are coming back. I’ve been telling people I love them. I’ve been writing things down in my dream book next to my bed.
Eating/Drinking:
Thanksgiving in Idaho! I helped my sister-in-law make dinner.
Turns out my cucumber sesame salad is great road trip snack food.
Persimmons + apples + lime juice was another good road snack.
I brought roasted delicata squash into breakfast time.
Meal prep saved me this month.
I liked having baked apples with oat crumble for breakfast.
Cooper had to make dinner for us this month for homework. He did a great job.
He remarked at how exhausting cooking was. LOLLLLLLLL. Hooray for perspective.
Been living off of this Curry Coconut Chicken Soup!
It feels good to have a cleaned out fridge.
This month I shared my favorite! Cheesy Mushroom Baked Pumpkin!
Shared instant pot applesauce with friends!
I added pumpkin to my Turkey White Bean Chili this month. Good call!
Meal Prep champ!
Granola bark was also a savior this month.
Grateful For:
- my family
- my friends
- deep conversations/connections
- my art practice
- my tenacity
- my drive
- my mom
