One of my favorite low-energy meals is a Burger Salad. We have burgers once a week here in the Benjamin household. The boys have theirs with buns (lol) and me without (bread). What’s a burger salad? It’s a burger without a bun on top of a salad. It’s an answer to living without bread/gluten. The way I balance it out? A potato product of some sort. Burgers on the grill (or stove) and the air fryer going with some type of fry and dinner is done in less than 20.
Here are a few of my favorite burger salads. I have the same old thing but mix it up sometimes.
Let me show you how I do that- Burger Salad inspiration incoming!
Curry Turkey Burgers with rice + a chopped salad of some sorts.
Cheeseburger (it’s under the mustard and ketchup!) with a Caesar salad + tots!
Sometimes I use hashbrown patties from Trader Joe’s as buns! This cheeseburger has pickled onions on top!
My husband came home with curly fries. Yum! Here’s a burger salad with my Mom’s Green Salad.
This one is an arugula salad with blue cheese and balsamic with a burger on top and TOTS.
This one is an arugula (do you see a trend?!) with avocado, red onions with a cheeseburger with aged white cheddar!
Crinkle cut fries to shake things up!!! We like yellow mustard in my household. My brother makes fun of us for that because he is a mustard snob. If you’re reading this Ryan, hiiiiiii.
Burger salad?? How about lettuce as a bun? Ok! Jalapeno for the win!
This is one of my standbys- arugula, cucumber, feta, tomato, and red onion! I cut up the burger and make a perfect bite with a hunk of that tomato.
I’ll post more Burger Salad combos as I make them, but this should get you started. I hope this inspires you to have a burger salad soon. And if you need some gluten-free dinner options, I got you!
