Today’s Post: Valentine’s Day Menu Ideas!
Hello, you.
One of the things I am working through right now in my relationship with food is how much being a FOOD ENABLER has been wrapped up in my identity. I have made a business of wooing you with food. How do I do it?
Editing and presentation.
A deep love for food.
Growing up Italian.
Learning how to love through food.
Understanding indulgences and how to entertain them.
Valentine’s Day is next week. Let me show you how to love/seduce someone with food.
Cue the music….
First, find out what they like. Make a note of it. Learn how to make it. Make it special.
How do you make things special?
Save the big guns for special occasions like Valentine’s Day when you really want to impress.
I’ve got some big guns.
Here’s a dinner I know that’s a winner in my household Steak, Potatoes & Broccoli.
Let’s be real. The broccoli is for me.
Steak always gets a gold star.
My man loves meat and potatoes. He also loves my linguini & clam dish. If I really want to show him I love him, I make fresh spring rolls. They’re a labor of love for sure. He’s learned how to make amazing pizza and sushi in the past few years. Maybe I can get him to make fresh rolls too? 😉
If I had my way, I would have chicken piccata, mashed potatoes & roasted broccoli for Valentine’s Day.
Ina’s Chicken Piccata
It doesn’t make me feel stupid full which is something you always need to think of if you plan on being intimate later.
We’ll save that conversation for when you’re older.
Cheesy Potato Stacks
Cuz CHEESE and YUM.
Crispy Smashed Potatoes
I call dibs on the crispiest one.
French Onion Soup
Imagine how sexy you’ll look when you make bedroom eyes with your boo while pulling up a melty trail of cheese from your soup bowl.
Maybe we can update Lady & the Tramp with French onion soup. I think we are ready.
Spanish Garlic Shrimp
I make this dish all the time but that doesn’t mean it’s not special.
Sushi Handrolls
Handroll night is an exciting time! Getting your hands on food…together is fun and kinda romantic.
All you need is some prep.
Let’s move on to the Italian portion of our Valentine’s Day.
Chicken Parmesan Meatballs
Pair it with my garlic bread and I’m pretty sure you’ll be proposed to.
Pasta is also a winner!
Here are some of my faves:
Baked Ziti with Creme Fraiche & Spinach
Don’t let your boo eat too much. It’s not the kind of stuffed you’re looking for.
Fettucine with Truffle Butter
You could also pair this with steak. Or if your boo is vegetarian, add a ton of mushrooms. I just hope they’re the vegetarian that eats mushrooms. Those are the best boos.
Creamy Mushroom Sausage Orecchiette
A bowl of this cuddled up on the couch with a good movie? TWIST MY ARM.
Spaghetti Pie
This one is a simple yet decadent number. Make the pasta ahead of time. It’s a great thing to pull off after a long dumb day at work.
Baked Spaghetti with Meat Sauce
This dish is pure love. PURE LOVE.
Roasted Vegetable Galette
Make me this galette instead of flowers. Thank you, goodnight.
Mocha Icebox Cupcakes
Make this ahead of time! They’re delightful.
White Chocolate Mousse
Light and fluffy! Put it on someone’s body or don’t! Choose your own adventure.
Chocolate Lollipops
Candy is a way to many people’s hearts. My Mom knew this. That’s why she made these chocolate lollipops every year!
White Chocolate Matcha Truffles
Melt in your mouth gooooooodness!
Small Batch Chocolate Cupcakes
Small batch! That means we can each have two.
Brown Sugar Meringues with Strawberries + Cream
Lovely and light!
Gluten-Free Fudgy Brownies
FUDGYYYYY. Amazingly fudgy. YUM.
The last two desserts are so simple!
S’mores Sundaes
Broiled Raspberry Brulee
An incredibly light and easy dessert!
