Apple Fennel Melon Juice

apple fennel melon juice

I know what you’re thinking. You want to say, “That’s a whole lot of stuff in a juice and I’m not really sure how I feel about juicing fennel.” I understand it sounds weird, but you totally need to get over it.  I too was skeptical when I first juiced fennel, but somehow it works! In fact, IT TOTALLY WORKS. It adds depth to a juice and makes it snazzy. Plus the apple and the cantaloupe are sweet enough to mellow it out.

Listen up! I really want you to experience my new favorite juice. Just do it. It’s amazing.

Let’s get our JUICE on. Chop up your stuff.

Juice up your stuff. Shove it ALL in.

And here’s where the cantaloupe changes the perfect green color. Side note, I totally thought I was buying a honeydew melon. When I opened it up, it WAS a cantaloupe. Pretty deceptive. Cross breeding is weird.

JUICE!

1.2.3….glasses with ice cubes….waiting to be….

Was wondering if you had any thoughts about types of juicers? I am thinking that this is something we should definitely have. My kids could live on juice and this seems so much healthier. Thoughts on brands?

  • Leslie

Yes! I would like to know what kind of juicer you have and if you like it. I registered for the Jack LaLanne Juicer for my wedding but apparently no one thought I really needed it! This juice looks interesting. I do worry about the fennel, but I trust you!

  • Lana

Oooh, I have fennel and I am totally going to try this. That is WHACK about the canteloupe… I guess the brain skin weirds people out so they’ve modified it?

    • Tracy

I KNOW!!! Especially because I wanted a TOTALLY GREEN JUICE. Oh wells!! I bet you’ll like fennel. Tell me how it goes!

  • Natasha

can the cantaloupe be substituted with anything else?

  • Lindsay

looks yum. time to get me a juicer… and some fennel.

  • Mel@MySunshine

Ooo yay! I thought I was the only one in the whole world that loved to get my juice on. I’ve never done anything with fennel before. Is there a wrong way to chop it? I’ve always been scared of it!

    • Tracy

If you are juicing it, it doesn’t matter!! If you are eating it, it’s kind of like cabbage in the fact that there’s a tough thick stem in the core. Cut it out. YAY JUICE!

  • cindy

i am so making this juice! i love all of those things! i’m gonna go listen to the podcast now 🙂

  • Rosemarie

Silly question, did you peel the ginger first? or can you just put it in a juicer just cut up?

    • Tracy

NO! No need to peel the ginger. Your juicer is gonna grind it up and filter it out anyways!

  • Sophia

I’m also curious about the fennel. I’ve never done anything with fennel. Do you put that WHOLE fennel stalk in there, little green leaves and all? or only the white part? A few details, please! Thanks! Oh! and also some details on the ginger- like Rosemarie asked…
Thanks! I’m new to your blog and love it already- I’m a huge foodie. I post pics of “What I’m Eating” on my facebook…Thanks again!

  • heather @ chiknpastry

you are magical! You might not believe me, but i’ll say so anyway: i literally JUST opened my new juicer that has been on my wishlist for weeks :). I tried this sorta odd juice detox thing a couple of weeks ago and was hooked on juice. thanks for linking back to the tutorial – will definitely give these juices a try, and most def will try the fennel. YUM.

    • Tracy

AWESOME!!! Welcome to the juice club!! You’ll love it here! It’s really easy to get hooked on juice…the only problem is that produce can be so dang expensive. But it’s WORTH IT.

  • kmarie

that looks so good! i’ve had my omega juicer since 1994 and they never told me there were filters! i’m gonna get me some now-thanks tracy shutterbean! i can’t believe i’ve been scrubbing that dang filter all these years-duh. i love your podcast! make more more more! please.

Made it twice, first with stalks, second time I didn’t use the stalks. I prefer without, I thought the anise flavor was overwhelming with the stalks. But that could just be a matter of taste. With that minor adjustment – DELICIOUS!

  • Kim Steel

I just got a juicer, and a friend brought some raw fennel to work. It is delicious just to eat , like you would eat celery. I did a search for fennel juice, and wala! Here you are. Totally going to try this juice. I can’t wait. I’m just starting a juicing cleanse. =)

  • Annette

Hi! I’m new here too! Also googled juicing fennel and got you here. Looks like a good site to check in on. Thanks for the fennel tip! Question: when on a juice fast, how much juice do you drink? I can’t seem to find the answer. Thanks!

  • Mariangela

    Hello,
I tried the juice, but I did on my vitamix. It is very delicious. Thanks for sharing!

  • John

Variation – Came back from a trip and no ingredients in the house except –

    Fennel Bulb
    Cantelope (very ripe)
    1 Green Apple
    1 Kiwi
    Ginger and Lemon Juice

My wife and I both loved the resulting Juice. Definitely won’t be overlooking Fennel in our juice recipes.
