Blistered Shishito Peppers

Blistered Shishito Peppers // shutterbean

Shishito peppers are popping up in the stores these days. I just bought some from Trader Joe’s! Like…a lot of them. I usually throw them on the grill with a little bit of olive oil and some kosher salt but yesterday I didn’t feel like turning on the grill. I just sautéed them in a non-stick pan with a little bit of olive oil and salt…turned the gas on high and cooked them until they blistered & softened. Within a few minutes I created a very healthy/satisfying and I didn’t have to man the grill.

By the way…they’re amazing on pizza!

Tropical Smoothie Bowls

Tropical Smoothie Bowl made with Aloha Daily Good Greens Powder. It's the perfect way to kick-start your day with tons of nutrients ! Find the recipe on Shutterbean.com

I fell out of love with smoothies awhile ago. I didn’t really mean too….it’s just that I prefer to eat food rather than drink it. But then Tropical Smoothie Bowls entered the picture.

But recently….I fell in love HARD with smoothie bowls because it’s a smoothie IN A BOWL.

It’s a thicker smoothie— one you eat with a spoon. No straw necessary.

Just a spoon and TOPPINGS.

And it’s allllll about the toppings. Because it’s almost like having a bowl frozen yogurt with fruit!

I made this here tropical smoothie bowl in partnership with ALOHA. I’m so excited to be working with them as I LOVE their green powders & superfood chocolate bars.  For this recipe I mixed frozen bananas with frozen berries, coconut cream, pineapples and fortified the smoothie with a packet of Aloha’s Daily Good Greens Powder. For toppings, I added fresh bananas, pineapple, raspberries and toasted coconut for some extra crunch. Talk about healthy!

I think it’s safe to say that I made this recipe for two and ended up eating both servings. Sorry, Cooper!  Obviously, I didn’t want the smoothie bowl goodness to end.

Pizza Rolls

Turn store bought pizza dough into a quick weeknight dinner. These pizza rolls are like cinnamon rolls but PIZZA! Find the recipe at Shutterbean.com

It’s Sunday night and I’ve got a mountain of laundry waiting to be folded, a stiff cocktail by my side, and an episode of Mad Men on my DVR to dive into so I’ll keep this brief. Two words: Pizza Rolls

PIZZA ROLLS ARE LIKE CINNAMON ROLLS BUT WITH PIZZA TOPPINGS!

The sauce! The cheese! The pepperoni and the basil! It’s all too good.  The cheese melts and pepperoni meld together inside of the rolls while the inside marinara seeps out of the bottom…mixing with melted cheese to make an incredible crust.  Can’t get enough!

If You’re Going to San Francisco…..

If you're going to San Francisco let Tracy of Shutterbean be your tour guide!

There are sooooo many good places to eat in San Francisco. I feel so lucky to be so close to the action and to have grown up in such a great food mecca!  Taste Buds, brought to you by Ford, is a cool new show (with two adorable hosts!) on You Tube, and to celebrate the launch, I am working with Ford and Taste Buds to share my favorite spots in San Francisco. Finally! A post I can direct everyone to when they email me for my San Francisco recommendations!

And onto….

My Favorite Places to Eat

(in alphabetical order because my brain works that way)

SF Eating Guide // Shutterbean

A16- We LOVE this place because their pizza never disappoints. We always go there for family dinners with my parents. We’re Italian so we usually crave Italian when we’re hanging out.  The burrata is amazing– like butter! I wrote a post about A16 many many moons ago. Be sure to check out SPQR too as it’s a fabulous place to get brunch- and right near the Jonathan Adler store (my favorite!).

Bi-Rite Creamery–  EXCEPTIONAL  ice cream. The salted caramel & the honey lavender are my favorites. But! I don’t love waiting in long lines..so sometimes we just go to Mitchell’s instead. They still have a line but it’s not as bad. Their ice cream is bonkers too so it’s a win-win!
